The Genesis
A day of hard labour, a meal freely given, and a song on the road home.
In the rough and tough days of uncertainty, a group of close to twenty friends held four things in common: determination, resilience, integrity and humility. They meant to succeed in any legitimate human endeavour.
On the invitation of one of their number — Maito, as he was fondly called — some of them went on an excursion for land cultivation in the bush close to Mayflower School, Ikenne Remo. At the end of the day’s hard work they were hungry, and they went to see the woman they called Mama: Zenita Ogunlade’s mother, popularly known as Iya Muyiwa, who worked at Mayflower School as a chef.
She warmly provided them food, which — in the leaflet’s own words — they thankfully demolished.
While going home, we gloriously sang in appreciation of Mama Muyiwa’s food. Suddenly, the idea to transform our friendship to a reputable association was shared by “Maito”, which was happily accepted by all. The Genesis of Zenith Klub Ikenne

The Early Years
One club, three names, and a registration that made it permanent.
A fifteen-member Klub was founded in 1985 under the name Ikenne Future Millionaires’ Klub (IFMK).
As time went on there was a change in nomenclature to Uren Future Millionaires’ Klub (UFMK), and then to the name it carries today — Zenith Klub Ikenne (ZKI), registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission.

Brotherhood & Friendship
The adage said twenty children could not play together for twenty years.
The leaflet opens by naming the thing the Klub set out to disprove: the adage that twenty children cannot play together for twenty years. Forty years on, the Klub is still together.
Membership is open to male Nigerians with a verifiable means of livelihood, irrespective of country of residence. Of the thirteen Zenitas today, some are permanent residents in the United Kingdom, Belgium and Australia; the others are at home in Nigeria.

Service to Ikenne
Exercise books, scholarships, and a safety net for the elderly.
The Klub carries corporate social responsibilities that return, year after year, to the same town that gave it its name.
- — Yearly donation of large quantities of 60-leaf exercise books to public secondary and primary schools in Ikenne and its environs.
- — Provision of social safety nets for the elderly in Ikenne and its environs.
- — Offer of scholarship to indigent students in Ikenne.

Four Decades Together
24 October 2025 — the ECCO Centre, Ikenne Remo.
The fortieth anniversary was marked with a full day’s programme: a visit to an orphanage and a relay race at Ikenne Community High School before the formal celebration, then addresses, awards, a speech on sustainable friendship, fundraising for the scholarship fund, and the cutting of the anniversary cake.
A souvenir leaflet was printed for the occasion. It is the source of almost everything recorded on this page.
